The cleaned rapeseeds are fed in the kettle of the oil press machine to squeeze out oil from it. Rapeseed contains 40 – 45 % oil content. After a 2 stage pressing, about 6.5 – 7% oil is still present in the rapeseed cake which will be used as animal feed. The Cleaned rapeseed is conditioned using Steam in a Vertical Cooking Kettle.

Since the screw frequency did not significantly affect the rapeseed oil yield, the effects of nozzle diameter and head press temperature were investigated. Figure 2 shows these process factors on the rapeseed oil yield at three screw frequencies: 40, 50, and 60 Hz. The rapeseed oil yield increased with increasing the press head temperature.

In the screw-pressing process, pressure is applied, which performs two important tasks in the rapeseed rectifying process. First, this process allows the removal of 60%–70% oil from the flakes; second, the pressing process converts the fragile flakes into thick, long-lasting chunks to enable better dissolving agent content and exudation in the extraction process (Table 1).
