After the extraction of the product the feed liquor is called raffinate (blue liquid with less white dots) whereas the solvent containing the product is called extract (yellow liquid with white dots). For the recovery of the product the solvent has to be separated in a subsequent third step from the product which is mostly done by distillation.

liquid extraction the feed solution is one phase and the solvent used for extraction is another phase. In solvent extraction both the liquids i.e. the feed and solvent forms a homogenous mixture and are separated by contacting it with one another which separates out one of the two liquids preferentially [15]. Solvent extraction is one of the separation methods in which one component or solute present in one phase is extracted into another phase by using a suitable solvent. Thus, the process by which a solute is transformed from one phase to a new phase is known as extraction. This process of extraction using a suitable solvent is popularly known as ...
- What is the difference between liquid extraction and solvent extraction?
- In liquid extraction the feed solution is one phase and the solvent used for extraction is another phase. In solvent extraction both the liquids i.e. the feed and solvent forms a homogenous mixture and are separated by contacting it with one another which separates out one of the two liquids preferentially . - What are the different types of extractors?
- Three kinds of traditional extractors, i.e., mixer-settler , extraction column , and centrifugal extractor , are widely used in the chemical industry. In addition, microflow extraction devices have emerged in recent years, along with the development of micro-chemical technology. …
- What are the different types of extraction?
- Details of basic theories applicable to types of Extraction such as – Liquid- Liquid Extraction, Solid Phase Extraction, Solid Liquid Extraction and Supercritical Extraction, etc. including the choice of solvent, procedure, respective advantages disadvantages and their applications are explained.
- What types of extraction equipment are used in the chemical industry?
- In the chemical industry, three main types of extraction equipment are in use: centrifugal extraction equipment. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
