Sow the seeds directly into the ground, as sesame does not transplant well. Plant the seeds at a depth of about 0.75 to 1 inch. This depth is optimal to ensure that the seeds have enough soil coverage to retain moisture but are not so deep that they cannot emerge. Space the seeds 3 to 4 inches apart in rows.
